As the U16s the team had an excellent 2010-2011 season, we lost just the one game and scored more points and allowed the opposition to score less than the previous  year. Our playing record was P12, W11 L1 405 for 122 against

CRUFC U16s 2010-2011And OF COURSE to top the season we regained the County cup beating Peterborough (the holders) in the semi-final and then hammering Shelford in the final. Our successful tour of Jersey in October, held over due to the Icelandic Volcano last Easter, brought the squad closer together and we have played some great rugby last year.
The squad is very much team orientated, where we’ve been a little thin for cover in certain positions players have stepped up to fill the gaps without griping.  Injuries have taken their toll and we’ve missed those players who have suffered them but look forward to welcoming them back for the new season, hopefully raring to go! Last year we continued to supply a large number of players for the Cambridgeshire squad and we have a couple of players training at, and one playing in his national exile U18 level, the equivalent of the Divisional level in the English set up.
This year as the U17 squad there are 2 higher challenges for the team. At U17 we are eligible to enter the Eastern Counties Cup open to the best teams from Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. There are 3 pool fixtures before Christmas followed by semi-finals and final in the New Year. If we do well in that competition then we should be nominated for one of the national U17 competitions which starts in March. A chance to show our prowess on a wider stage!!
We welcome new players at any time in the season ,if you’d like to become part of this successful team please contact one of the individuals listed below.
During the season we train  on Sunday mornings at Volac Park, Grantchester Road, from 11:30. This year we will be part of the Youth Development programme and the squad will be receiving coaching from the 1st Team coaches on alternate Tuesday evenings.
